Hove’s no-go ‘For Sale’ boards …
The Brunswick Festival took place on 16 & 17 August with packed crowds. What a glorious atmosphere when we went there on Saturday afternoon - mums, dads, children of all ages, with a live band, lots of stalls, beer tent and everyone just enjoying themselves, rummaging through the stacks of jewellery, trying out the cakes, food, clothes, old books and records, and lolling about on the grassy slopes, simply busy doing nothing. (The kids were having a great time playing amongst the trees, too!)
Is there a ban on ‘For Sale’ and ‘To Let’ boards in Brunswick Square? The only ones we saw were for Callaways Estate Agents (and I think they’ve been in Hove since 1935!). Can someone tell me whether there are any properties to buy or rent in the Square?Â
Yours, TG

The reason there are no ‘for sale’ and ‘to let’ boards in Brunswick Square is because they are the only Grade One listed buildings in Brighton and Hove (or as far as I know they are). It is a council policy. It’s a great policy too I think, it keeps the square looking pristine. Hundreds of boards going up and down would detract from its grandeur somewhat I think.
