HIPS are hopeless …
We’ve all been saying it for ages - HIPS are hopeless!
As if we needed another study to tell us what we already knew. For goodness sake, Gordon, give us a break and do away with this unnecessary red tape. We don’t mind if you admit to making a mistake with their introduction - just come clean and save us all from this ridiculous paper shuffling.
If Birmingham Trading Standards found that 5 out of 6 packs are misleading homebuyers, what use are they?
Alex Sheppard, Sales Manager at Callaways Estate & Lettings Agents in Hove, East Sussex, told me:
‘Buying a house is one of the most important investments people make. Vendors and buyers need to have absolute confidence in the information provided within a HIPS report, if it is to have any support. At the moment, I don’t believe this is happening. HIPS are an unwelcome expenditure for Vendors and I’ve yet to see a single seller who genuinely believes the HIPS report is going to make a difference to his potential purchase.’
Are you HIPping mad? Tell us your experiences …
