A leisurely walk along the Prom-Prom-Prom!
Mr D of Worthing wrote in with this fabulous idea after recently spending a holiday in Spain …
Â
“My wife and I are EAP’s (Elderly Active People)Â and we often enjoy long walks on various esplanades, whenever we get the chance.
Â
We recently visited Marbella on the Costa del Sol and we were very pleased to encounter a ‘playground for grown-ups’ on the beach front … in theory a health activity area for adults only (the sign clearing advised ‘no children allowed’). A sturdily made playground, painted in eye-catching yellow and red, with nordic walkers, waist stretchers, thigh strengtheners, for those wanting to exert some energy … and all totally free of charge!
Â
Needless to say we took advantage of this unheralded facility and only wished that local councils in the UK provided similar healthy options for visitors and residents.”
Â
As you can see from the images, full use of the facilities was made.Â
Â
I think this is a great idea for the South Coast, particularly along the Worthing promenade where I live.”
I’d like to know what you think? A new stance on Public Open Space?Â
